overshadowed

in the past (quite a ways in the past now), ive posted a haiku now and then, and every once in a while someone would post a reply with one as well. well, i thought it would be a good idea to have some kind of a post that was a free forum for haiku postings - kind of a fun way to communicate important things (or not so important things) that are important to you right now. this is going to be that attempt. so feel free to leave haikus and comments on everyone's haikus in the comments and we will see what we can come up with here. For those that need a reminder here's the standard formula for a haiku:

5 syllables
7 syllables
5 syllables

usually there is some natural theme incorporated into the poem, but thats not really a requirement in my book; just something to consider.

Ill get things started with a couple...

snow is melting fast
water flows from mountain peaks
kayaking is fun

the fireplace echoes
northern flicker has returned
please quit your banging

post away!

Heartache or homesick
The mornings are frost bitten
The pain of a burn

Spring is eternal
notwithstanding moonsickness
the smell of road kill

Riding my bike home
it's not where I want to go
the hills are calling

Its snack time again
Lice and little bits of skin
Glad I'm not an ape

We already know
About those who can and can't
But those who shouldn't
Rule
(I cheated)

Biking girl at home
My ass hurts from thirty miles
Oh what have I done?

August already
Soon the leaves will fall from trees
Where did July go?

Innocently done
On this page bones have been thrown
I will love them still

I don't want to work
Hiking seems like much more fun
Where are all the bears?

A year has since passed
The little scars still shine pink
Autumn shows them less

skies of smoke obscure
hello bears, where do you hide?
strong rains purify

ninety degree heat
vacation comes to an end
hoodie time draws near
