oh, the big no, no. the drunken blogging.....
just finished the dj night...sorta. im still going , but everyone else has crashed. daniel was chatting with us along the way, but hes off to hang out with sarah for the night. denice and robert have both called it quits a few songs ago. brenda is crashed out on the spare bed next to me, but she hasnt really added a song in at least an hour. so that leaves me...still pluggin' away listening to the music that i want to hear.
just finished playing september 67 and now im on to playing a song by lois. not really sure when it might end since ive got at least another two songs qued up. who really cares at this point...its all about the music really.
quite surprisingly, we never played any low together, so i jumped in and threw one out there as soon as everyone else called it quits, and to tell you the truth i can see another couple going in pretty quick.
now, we are on to a song from the movie once, that we went to see yesterday. great film. low budget, filmed great, acted solid, and incredible music. see it.
off to enjoy, what i want to hear....i will try to post a playlist soon.

revived
dj night cometh...finally.
the last posting turned into some solobastardized dj afternoon thing. tons of music and videos and music from youtube....good times, but still not what i have been truly craving.
last weekend was FIBArk again. this has turned into a nice little tradition really. ive been out here 4 years and been to the festival each year...and i really love it. not only is there the opportunity to paddle again, but the town of salida which hosts the festival is just a blast. we had a really nice thunderstorm move through saturday evening and postpone a bunch of the events, but that made it just that much more interesting. we ended up staying the entire afternoon on sunday to watch the freestyle finals. got some great pics...but mostly of the amateur men division. heres one that
demonstrates some of their crazy abilities - 13 year old dane jackson throwing a loop (a front flip) in the play hole in salida. his ride was the most amazing ive ever seen and immediately following it, was called the best ride ever at FIBArk.
my paddle day on friday went well too. first time down brown's canyon. absolutely beautiful, and i nailed just about all of it. cant wait to run it again so i can take some more aggressive lines and challenge myself a bit more. if you check this post soon after it goes up, you might be able to catch some pics of me on the web. try this link...and if it doesnt work go to whitewaterphotography.com, click on the arkansas river tab, put in the date 6-15-07, and go to the private rafters/kayakers section. on page 8, youll find me after rob, then scott. im the one who looks scared shitless in the red boat. there is also another site you can check out here...or go to viewmyimages.com, click on the view and order link, go to private boaters, brown canyon (its really brown's canyon), click on the link for 6-15-07 between 330 and 430, and you should find me on the second page...again sweating it out hoping that i make it through the rapid. this was zoom flume, the most difficult rapid on the run...and a big kick.
till later...post dj night probably.

slint in 4
found this on a blog i was reading earlier for a podcast called Dallas Does Indie. if you do the podcast thing, you should check this one out, hosted by jasien swords, hes got fairly similar tastes to me. weekly show, usually 30-40 minutes long. he does the research so you dont have to.
anyway, this is incredible; i think ive listened to it at least 4 times since i started writing this post... some girl doing a cover of a sufjan stevens song, called Chicago. watch, listen, and be moved...
liz, if you ever make it back this way, her voice has the same soothing power that yours does.
